REPORTS:
STREMAC, SEMAC and State Council: Dr. Huffner SEMAC and State Council have not met since March; no report. STREMAC: draft policy entitled Optional CFR Skills. New York State has approved a new set of CFR protocols, consistent with the NHTSA national curriculum for CFRs. Several of the skills were removed to simplify the CFR course. STREMAC identified several skills that we believed were valuable in terms of patient care, that we would like to authorize within the region, if a CFR is trained, and authorized to do so by their medical director. And those skills include vital signs, blood pressure, pulse and respiration, level of consciousness which would include the GCS/AVPU, the importance of serial and repeat vital signs; rapid extrication and non-rapid extrication, immobilization including backboard/short board and C-collar use. Discussion; approved with two dissenting votes.
